Governance and Compliance

The organisation is overseen by a Board of Directors comprising individuals with diverse professional and cultural backgrounds. The Board meets six times annually to provide strategic guidance, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the organisation in achieving its charitable objectives.

Each year, an Annual General Meeting is held, during which the Annual Report including a narrative of activities and audited financial statements is presented and discussed with stakeholders.

Acts of Compassion Ministries fully adheres to the Governance Code for the Community, Voluntary, and Charitable Sector in Ireland. In 2020, the Board conducted a formal governance evaluation. It confirmed that members possess the necessary experience and skills and are responsive to the needs of vulnerable individuals who rely on the organisation’s services. This evaluation reflects the organisation’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and best practice.

The organisation is also supported by an Advisory Committee comprising of migrant and indigenous community members with expertise in areas such as drug addiction and rehabilitation, homelessness, domestic violence, and mental health. This Committee provides valuable guidance to help ensure the organisation’s services remain relevant and responsive to the communities it serves.

The organisation is supported by a highly skilled and dedicated workforce, whose expertise and commitment ensure the effective and consistent delivery of services. Comprehensive governance policies, compliance frameworks, and resilience-focused practices underpin the organisation’s operational stability and long-term sustainability.

Financial Reporting And Transparency

Annual Reports are prepared in accordance with the Companies Act 2014. In the absence of statutory financial reporting standards for charities in Ireland, the organisation voluntarily applies the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice, thereby promoting accountability and transparency.
